Vuelta: Menchov with his Concor Light
is the winner!
The final overall standings of the Vuelta find Denis Menchov as the big winner (riding his Concor Light), although the points jersey slipped away from him in the last stage. In the battle for the gold jersey, Menchov was followed by Carlos Sastre and Samuel Sánchez.
Bennati took home the jersey in the points category, with Menchov second and Samuel Sánchez in third place. Menchov was also the king of the mountain standings, with Jurgen Van Goolen and Carlos Sastre taking the other two top spots.
The combined went to the Russian racer, with Samuel Sánchez and Sastre trailing him. And in the overall team category, the victory went to Caisse d’Epargne, with Euskaltel-Euskadi in second and Ag2r, which quietly placed three cyclists in the Top 20, in third place.
