Santini success in Sydney
Some nice images from the Sydney World Cup, where the new Toshiba-Australia team (resplendant in their brand new Santini gear) and their Australian National Team counterparts clearly performed above their recent form-guides. They didn't dominate by any means, but they were certainly in the thick of most events, particularly in the sprints, where the Aussies have been very poor of late.
Just got to get the enduro boys firing and things will be looking well for Beijing. Shame of course that the Olympics is the one event where they won't actually be able to wear Santini.
Of the VIS Bianchi riders; Nice to see Katie Mactier back on top of the divas once again, particularly given she beat a number of her major rivals for gold in Beijing and backed up to collect silver in the inaugural women's teams pursuit.
Leigh Howard rode a great race in the scratch but missed the winning break. Shane Perkins surprised many by beating Ross Edgar (UK) in the sprint. Shane Kelly anchored the winning Olympic Sprint team in ominous fashion. Mark French was 5th in the men's sprint overall.
SMS Santini first made the HST jerseys last year, and it proved popular with the riders.
