Great Results for Jayco-VIS in Melbourne
Some great results for our sponsored team, Jayco-VIS over the weekend here in Melbourne. The first Australian edition of the hugely successful 'Revolution' series was run and won on Saturday night on the Vodafone Arena boards, with the 18 year old pairing of Junior World Champions, Leigh Howard and Glen O'Shea winning the overall Omnium title.
They headed a stellar field of professional road riders, internationals and australian Olympic hopefuls, including Graeme Brown (Rabobank), Chris Sutton (Cofidis), Greg Henderson (T-Mobile), Matt Wilson (Unibet), Kemps (Astana), de Koert (Astana), Brett Aitken and many more from the AIS, Drapac, Canada, and Scotland.
Other fine performances for the VIS crew included Peta Mullens second place in the scratch race on her newly celeste painted track bike and sprinters, Shane Perkins and Mark French, who both continued to push 'flyin' Ryan Bailey in the galdiator events.
We also wanted to make note of our Selle San Marco sponsored rider, Ben Kersten, who looks to be coming back into form after trying to race through a very heavy training load. Ben noted to me that it's been a bit frustrating of late with trying to train hard but having all the other sprinters going so quick at the moment. We pointed out though that they don't hand out Olympic medals until late next year and that he has plenty of time to show off the benefits of all his hard work. The team at Selle San Marco are currently working on some special versions of the Rever saddle for Ben, which will be made super strong to meet the huge demands of a power sprinter like Ben.
